UPDATE: FOX 40 News spoke with Jackson city spokesperson Chris Mims who said Willow Court Apartment residents no longer have to be out of their apartments.
Mims said it's not because the city backed down, though. He said the aparment manager is allowing residents to stay now.
He'll make a decision in the next week or two whether he'll keep the apartment open.
Here's our original story we posted Thursday with detailed background:
Tempers are as high as the summer temps at Willow Court Apartments.
The landlord sent out a letter saying residents have to be out because they lied to city officials about the living conditions there.
It's still like a dream to the residents who are planning their next action. Many of them are packing up because their landlord ordered them out of the complex by tomorrow.
The letter says the utilities will be off Monday.
The apartment manager says the landlord -- William Dixon -- told him to pass out the letters.
The letter says the landlord is closing the complex based on advice given by the city. City Spokesman Chris Mims says that's not true. Code enforcement officers only talked to the landlord about the violations.
Stephanie English says the landlord and manager only wants money.
"He doesn't even care. Neither one of them care. It's all about money. It's all about the dollar. They don't care about us. They don't care anything about us," said English.
